Hi, I’m Brian. Welcome to the world of I Am Dragon. If you’ve clicked on this section of the website, then I’m assuming you’re interested in, or at least mildly curious about, well... me.

If that’s the case, let me say that I’m very grateful, kinda flattered, and I promise to keep it brief, so you don’t get bored. The basics, born in Chicago, moved to California when I was four. Lived in SoCal for forty-eight years, been in NorCal for five.

To me, storytelling is the art of evoking emotion, world-building, creating authentic characters, and finding a story that resonates with everyone. I’ve been writing in some way, shape, or form for thirty-six years. I started on a whim, first trying my hand at cartoons, because I was a die-hard Looney Tunes fanboy, and at the time there was a great opportunity at Hanna-Barbera Studios for unknowns to pitch their original seven-minute cartoon shorts. From there I eventually switched to screenplays, and after spending over twenty years in the screen-world, with varying degrees of (minimal) success, I wanted a change. I decided to try my hand at writing a novel, a format that would allow me the freedom to world-build and fully develop my characters, without the restrictions of the screenplay format, or having to worry about the whims of producers, directors, actors, or budgets.

“It’ll be so much easier!” I stupidly thought to myself.

Some writers, so I’ve been told (and God bless ‘em) work on several different stories at a time, or write several different books before they publish their first, using each successive book as a learning tool. Yeah, that ain’t me. I Am Dragon is the book I started eleven years ago, and the only one I’ve bullheadedly worked on until I decided to self-publish it myself.

And that pretty much brings you up to speed, though admittedly that’s the condensed version. Some other stuff has happened in my life over the years, but I promised not to bore you, so here we are.

I also have a girlfriend (not pictured) and a dog, her name is Oreo.
